Thing is ... this game should run with player reputations in effect. When some people get bad reps and they become shunned by other players then it will be a point for others to think about. Reputations can be either through word of mouth or through how many times that person gets muted by their leader vs. missions taken.

This way. Keep from being muted/kicked and put in strats and info that retain your good standing. When people see your rep based on interaction with other teams, they will know what they are dealing with. Word of mouth is only as good as how far it travels.

I'm not innocent of this because 1 or 2 times in a random group I have drawn a happy face on the map on purpose and when adventuring with a friend of mine I have drawn (. Y .) ... well you know.

Hmmm intriging idea but 2 things come to mind,
First what if you do missions and quests with the same people all of the time, like guildmates or a select group that you meet with 1 or 2 times a week to play?
Second IF and it would be a big IF, there was a way to create and impliment a rating system then it could be tied to your Fame rating and situations that would happen outside of PvP would also help or hinder ones Fame.

Interesting

I've drawn "LOL" when we get run over by a giant mob, usually makes everyone laugh.

Remember, we are looking at the bottom line of the reputation system. It's a method of seeing an unknown player and how he has done among other players. If you play with only a select group then yes you wont have alot of positive/negative votes but if you play with a select group you really have found an ideal person or persons to play with, so really rep means nothing among other players ... the mission success does however lift the score to help out. The final score you would have can work 1 of 2 ways.

A number based score that just says how many points you have accrued along the way. or...
A text level score driven by the number system that tells everyone your either an idiot, ok, a team player. Staying in the middle road is fine for everyone because it could range within a few points of 0.

As for Fame rating. I dont see some idiot (see above example rating ) being famous. I'm not very familiar with the fame rating so ... guess I cannot see this tie in.

The game would just have 2 more minor stats. Group Interaction and Tradability. These stats are way below a Fame rating because again, if you have a group to game with you dont care about new people. If you have a group large enough to rely on then your looking at a guild and the guild master would be responsible for bringing in new members.

Yes. CTRL+Space will call out your target and CTRL+Double-click will call out the monster you double-clicked on.

Back to the point, it's not the drawings which annoy me it's when people try to paint the entire minimap white. It is still possible to coordinate with players when there's a penis drawn on the map but not when some idiot keeps pinging and shading it.

Then it would be a "quality over quantity" thing. You might only have four or five votes to your name, but if your overall reputation is positive then you'll be in pretty good shape when it comes time to look for a random party, similiar to how eBay sellers can have a good reputation even if they only sell a couple of items a year.

I like to draw little question marks when I can't figure out what the hell my group is trying to do. It seems to get their attention

Yea... most of the time, people just draw usefull stuff, like pointers and question marks... then comes the LOL's, smilies, checkmarks, X's, and stuff like that... and, sometimes ppl make it appear that one branch of the road is blocked off, saying not to go that way... the map is quite usefull in those aspects.

I have seen it all on the minimap, and I mean all. I just try and group up with friends I know to avoide these inconveniences.

I like to sketch the more elevated works of the Impressionist Era.

Ok I haven't had much time to play GW even though I've had it since the release. Can someone fill me in on this whole minimap thing? I assume you mean the map in the upper right. I didn't know you could write on it or "ping" it or do much else with it. What are it's interfaces and how does it benefit me.

One last thing, why is the documentation so lacking with this game. If this game was a flight simulator I'd never get off the ground. Is there a single source to find commands and what all the game interface are and how to use them? Maybe I've just overlooked something and maybe this is posted in the wrong section.

I had trouble where I partied with 2 guildies and 3 from another guild.
Then all of a sudden, someone drew a swastica on the mini-map.
That, understandably, wasn't accepted by any of us, especially the jewish team member.
The sinner never admitted it was him.
The conclusion is:
Make those colored lines, so we can report such profanities (lol, dunno what it really means, just sounds like it fits in).

I've had that happen at least twice.
Another great reason for colored lines.

The back of the book has a good deal of info about the game, so RTFM ... j/k.

when i ask them to stop all they do is write NO in the mini map so it doesnt give them away and they continue to act like a punk

I couldn't agree more. For such a thick manual, it has surprisingly little gameplay information.
